Google is closing Google Fit soon and replacing it with Google Health Connect. Follow the steps on this page to make sure you're all set for the change.
If you’re using an Android device, you can integrate the CGX app with Health Connect to see your step count, energy burned, and heart rate information in the Statistics area of the app.
Do I need to install the Health Connect app?
This depends on what version of Android your device is using:
- Android 14 or above: Health Connect is installed automatically
- Android 9–13: You will need to install Health Connect via the Play Store
- Android 8 or below: Health Connect is not available on your device
How do I enable the integration?
First, make sure Health Connect is installed on your device. Then, follow these steps:
- Open the CGX app
- On the home page, scroll down to the Statistics area
- Tap on the settings cog next to Statistics
- At the top of this screen, check what the status is:
-
Connected: you're all set!
-
Not connected: you haven't given permission for Health Connect to sync to CGX
-
Not installed: Health Connect isn't installed on your device
-
It says 'Not connected'. How can I connect?
If you're still on the Statistics page on CGX, follow these steps:
- Tap on the system settings link near the top of the page
- This will bring you to the Health Connect settings page for CGX
- Tap Allow all to allow CGX to read* your heart rate, steps, and total calories burned data
- OR scroll down and choose which of those pieces of data to allow CGX to read
- When you're finished, tap Allow
If you're not on the Statistics page on CGX, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your device
- Tap into Security & Privacy
- Tap Privacy Controls or More privacy settings
- Tap Health Connect
- Tap App permissions
- Tap CGX
- Tap Allow all to allow CGX to read* your heart rate, steps, and total calories burned data
- OR scroll down and choose which of those pieces of data to allow CGX to read
- When you're finished, tap Allow
*Allowing an app to read your data just means allowing the app to display that data. So for example, the CGX app doesn't count your steps. Instead, it reads your step count from Health Connect and displays it on CGX. Likewise, CGX does not send any data to Health Connect.
